When it comes to LEGO, there are so many sets to choose from, and it can be hard to know which ones offer the best value for money. Also, value can mean different things to different people; for example, you might prefer minifigures (they’re so cute) or Technic LEGO with lots of moving pieces over buildings that are nice to look at.
In this blog, we’ve taken the approach of looking at the average dollar cost per 100 pieces of LEGO and considering only those sets that are in stock and available for order by Australians per the official LEGO website at the time of writing. That way, you know that you can order for minimal or free postage and not worry about having to pay any customs duty or import tax.
The table below summarises our findings, starting at a low $6.90 per 100 pieces based on normal retail pricing. We decided to exclude sets from the following ranges: LEGO® Art, Dots, and BrickHeadz, as these tend to contain a lot of single pieces lacking in variety. The LEGO® Iconic Chess Set in position 1 is similar but has been left in as an example.
At the time of writing, the best value kit was the Classic ‘Around The World’, found on Amazon for 39% off the retail price, now $49.99 or $5.26 per 100 pieces!

Other | Lunar New Year Parade | $159.99 | 1653 | $9.68 | Amazon |
Classic | Creative Transparent Bricks | $49.99 | 500 | $10.00 | Amazon |
Classic | Bricks and Functions | $49.99 | 500 | $10.00 | LEGO |

Disney™ | Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion | $69.99 | 680 | $10.29 | LEGO |
Classic | LEGO® Medium Creative Brick Box | $49.99 | 484 | $10.33 | Amazon |
Unsurprisingly, the best value sets come from the Classic range, and it’s good to see that a few Technic sets made the cut as well. The themed LEGO sets such as Marvel or Frozen are a lot more expensive and don’t feature at all in the list of $10 or less per 100 pieces. However, one Disney set made it into the top 15.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our picks for the top LEGO sets for value. At the time of writing, these sets offered the best price per piece count and were available to Australian buyers.
